100% Organic Chipotle Pepper Powder

Red jalapeño smoked over a natural wood fire just until the chilies are dried are called Chipotle range from 5000-10,000 SHUs or medium hot. The peppers are allowed to stay on the plant until they turn deep red and begin to dry out. It takes about 10 pounds of jalapenos to make a pound of chipotle. They are then grounded in to the fine chipotle powder with an intense smoky aroma.

They are primarily known for Mexican dishes, BBQ chicken, potato salad, chipotle for sandwich, dips and sauces.

Chipotle in Adobo Sauce

(When a recipe calls for chipotle in adobo sauce, and you don't have a can on hand, you can make your own.)


  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder (or flakes)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • pinch of oregano
  • pinch of garlic powder
  • pinch of salt


  1. Mix all ingredients and use in recipe as substitute when chipotle in adobo is called for. (Makes equivalent of 1 chili in adobo.)

Chipotle Ground Beef Tacos


  • 2 chipotle chilis in adobo, finely chopped (Or 2x the recipe to the left.)
  • 1 1/4 lbs lean ground beef
  • 10 small flour tortillas or taco shells.
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, diced
  • salsa or pico de gallo (optional)
  • sour cream (optional)
  • avocado, diced (optional)
  • tomatos, diced (optional)
  • lettuce, shredded (optional)
  • cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)


  1. Heat a large skillet to medium high.
  2. Brown beef in skillet for one minute.
  3. Add onion and garlic.
  4. Drain once meat is no longer pink.
  5. Add chipotles, chili powder, tomato sauce and salt.
  6. Heat over medium until ready to serve on warm tortillas or taco shells with desired toppings.


Chipotle Honey Chicken



  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons granulated garlic (or garlic powder)


  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar


  1. Combine the rub spices in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Trim excess fat off of the chicken.
  3. Pat dry.
  4. Drizzle chicken with oil and rub with hands to lightly coat all pieces.
  5. Toss chicken with spice rub to coat all sides well.
  6. Grill chicken for 3-5 minutes per side until cooked through.
  7. Warm honey in microwave while chicken is cooking.
  8. Add vinegar to warm honey and combine well.
  9. Brush mixture on both sides of chicken while it is finishing cooking. (Save a small amount for later.)
  10. Remove chicken from grill, place onto serving platter to cool slightly.
  11. Drizzle remaining glaze over chicken immediately before serving.
