(Cinnamomum verum, synonym C. zeylanicum) is native to Sri Lanka. The bark and powder is widely used as a spice. We offer Cinnamon in bark, sticks and powder forms. We don't offer Cassia. The name cinnamon is correctly used to refer to Ceylon Cinnamon, also known as "true cinnamon" (from the botanical name C. verum). Warm Turmeric Milk with Ceylon Cinnamon


  • 1 cup milk (unsweetened almond, coconut, or dairy)
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • ¼ tsp. each of ground turmeric, Ceylon cinnamon and cardamom
  • freshly ground Indus Organics black pepper


  1. In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk of your choice with the honey. 
  2. Bring to the point where it is almost boiling, then remove from heat.
  3. Whisk in the spices until well blended. Strain through a fine mesh strainer, if desired.
  4. Add some freshly ground pepper, stir with a cinnamon stick and serve.




  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, soft
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 teaspoon Indus Organics cinnamon powder


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, butter, 1 ½ cups sugar, and eggs until fluffy. 
  2. In a separate bowl, mix cinnamon powder with 3 tablespoons of sugar.
  3. Shape dough into tiny balls and roll in cinnamon sugar. Place on baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes and let cool. 


Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan - Turmeric adds color to the recipe


  • 1 ounce butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 large boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon Indus Organics ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Indus Organics chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Indus Organics turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon Indus Organics cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3⁄4 cup fresh cream
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon Indus Organics garam masala


  1. Saute onion and garlic in butter.
  2. Slice chicken breasts into bite sized pieces.
  3. Combine spices and salt and toss chicken pieces until well coated.
  4. Saute the chicken each side until golden brown.
  5. Stir in the cream and tomato paste.
  6. Cover pan and simmer for about 10 minutes until cooked through​. Sprinkle Garam Masala on top.
